Overview of Programs:

Faith Communities Network

The St. Louis Park Faith Communities Network met for two years to discuss issues of common concern. They now serve as an information network with which information can be shared about programs of interest to the congregations.

Congregational Nurse Program
A major NORC project is to expand the Congregational Nurse Program in the west metro area. The congregational nurse works closely with the clergy, health team and volunteers. She reaches out to members of the congregation with the expertise of an RN and the orientation of the faith community. She helps to monitor the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of the congregation. Her role is to do assessment and referrals rather than hands-on nursing. The nurse reaches out to frail and otherwise isolated seniors as well as others in need. To promote this important program, NORC funded the development of a multi-faith based curriculum to train more registered nurses in our diverse community. NORC is also helping to establish pilot programs in six congregations. We are now in the process of working with synagogues and churches to integrate this program into their congregational structure. We are hoping that this will have a significant impact on the ability of congregations to reach out.

West Metro Congregational Nurses’ Networking Group Congregational nurses from the West Metro and surrounding area meet monthly to share experiences and resources regarding their work. If you are interested in joining us, please call or email Joy Gordon, NORC Community Liaison at 952-542-4819 or jgordon@jfcsmpls.org
