NORC is a federal demonstration project, funded by the Administration on Aging and the Minnesota Department of Human Services, dedicated to testing innovative strategies for empowering seniors as they age in their communities. It is an exciting opportunity for the St. Louis Park community work together to support our seniors.

MISSION, VISION, AND GOALS

Mission
The Mission of the St. Louis Park NORC is to enable older adults to stay in their homes and community for as long as they can with the support they need to be healthy, safe, engaged citizens.

Vision
Our Vision is to create an environment in St. Louis Park that nurtures healthy aging for its residents and inspires residents of all ages to work toward this goal.

Goals

• Identify seniors who are isolated and engage them in community activities.
• Empower older adults to participate in the program.
• Educate residents and service providers about existing resources.
• Initiate an outreach program to connect seniors and their families to the available services in the community.
• Encourage and support intergenerational interaction.
• Provide options for health promotion, exercise, volunteering, and other vital aging activities.
• Encourage neighbor to neighbor activities.
• Develop a collaborative mechanism to identify gaps, coordinate programs, and avoid duplication.
